How the scanning works

The camera never leaves your device. Decoding runs in the browser, using the native barcode reader where the browser has one and a WebAssembly build of ZXing where it does not. Only the resulting number is looked up. A read has to repeat across two frames before it counts, because one frame is not evidence.
